Set Function Defaults – An Overview
If an item is dispositionable and a firm demand has been posted, then the item will be reserved for issue on a future date. Disposition is generally defined at the warehouse level. By default, firm entries will be posted in the standard warehouse for the item. If a transaction, however, modifies the warehouse, then entries will be made for that particular warehouse. A firm demand is certain to occur unlike a plan demand, which is tentative.
For example, if the allocation method is chosen, other than “None”, then the system checks the free physical stock to assess and the amount of stock that can be allocated. The system performs this check irrespective of whether the item is dispositionable or not. If the free stock is less than the required quantity, then the system allocates the available free stock and posts a firm demand in disposition for the remaining quantity. This page allows you to specify the number of days till which the item reserved in disposition can held. If the carry over count for inventory issue against MR is set as 5, then the system reserves the dispositionable stock for 5 days over and above the date on which it has been initially requested for issue. This is useful in situations when the requesting inventory cost center does not request for stock on the need date and wishes to extend the date on which the items need to be released from the warehouse.
